    Continental A-65

We are re-building a Piper J3 with a Continental A-65. We are having difficulty in finding the ignition harness - for BENDIX Mags. Apparently no problem if we had SLICKS ! We have the Bendix backplates, but need the HT cables "crimped" in correctly. I'm sure that we cannot be the only ones with Bendix mags on an A-65. Does anyone know of a shop that specialises in this kind of work, please ? Many thanks.

Not sure if aircraft spruce part number 12301-02 is what you need?

I will be going through this too. I am not at that point yet. My A-65 now has auto style plug wires. Those will be thrown out and replaced before I fly this airplane. When I get back out to the hangar I will get some pics of what I have.

I have had Varga Enterprises build custom leads for me a couple of times. When I needed a shielded replacement for an unusual antique magneto, I sent them the damaged one I had and they fabricated a perfect replacement for me. Contact information is below. They were good to work with and the leads were comparatively inexpensive and good quality.

I've taken a second look and I'm thinking you might be right. I have printed off the image of the kit and will be showing it to the guy actually working on the mags, see what he says. Thanks for the response. William.

Looking at the dialog I had with Earl White at Varga, they don't build the leads in house. Skytronics does the actual fabrication. Seems to me that I dealt with Varga because they gave me a better price than Skytronics would directly. I also give Varga an A+ for customer service as what I needed was really a one off and they went the extra mile to make sure it was done right after the first one was built for the incorrect mag model.
