I like adding music to my videos. Sometimes it adds a little bit of excitement to the video:
Everybody adds music. What you like some don't. Everyone believes music adds to their video. I only make money on video's I post without 3rd party content. Not sure how that works with you.
There will NEVER be Music on any of my video's that are not of music.

I paid for a license to use the music. It's mentioned at the bottom of the video on YouTube. This allows me to monetize the video. There are other websites that provide free music like Danosongs. He gives you a link to put with video in the comments area allowing you to monetize your video. I do a lot of videos for airport FBOs and aviation museums.
What do you pay to do this. I must have missed it being the cheap skate I am.

Yep, it's a lot, $39.95 per tune at http://PremiumBeat.com. The music that I get from http://danosongs.com/ is free and he offers a license that shows that there isn't a third-party royalty, so youtube won't have a problem with monetization. You just add a link back to his website and a link to the free license at http://danosongs.com/danosongs.com-license.pdf.
The music at PremiumBeat.com is very well done, and there is a lot to choose from. You can use the tunes as many times as you want to, on separate videos.
I must admit that am one of those %^&* musicians and love syncing up the videos with music. It's an addiction (Kind of like flying airplanes).
For me, the content of the video kind of determines the sound track (music/no music), like this one where we had a double GPS failure during a video shoot. It doesn't have music during flying and talking part (only at the very end):
This would be ruined if music was added. IMHO....

It's a matter of taste. I don't mind music, as long as there's nothing in the soundtrack that would enhance the viewing experience. Almost all of my videos are taken with the camera on the outside of the aircraft, and the "natural" soundtrack is just distorted burbling.

When music *is* added, the video should be cut to take advantage of the flow of the music. I'm still happy with this one:

There's a song I've been dying to wrap a video around, featuring my aging Fly Baby. Just haven't got around to doing some the scenes I'd need to make it work.

Nothing against those in the flatlands, but dramatic landscapes and unique locations definitely make for nice videos.
I also try to keep them fairly short so people watch the whole thing.
