Straight from the EAA Timeless Voices of Aviation archives, courtesy of the Milwaukie, Oregon based Wings of Freedom Project, comes this story about Bill Tunstall and Dorothy Nash, who met and married in 1943 while both were serving in the Navy. Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1939. He eventually became an Aviation Machinist Mate and served aboard the USS Hornet and later the USS Kitkun Bay. During a stateside tour at Sand Point Naval Base near Seattle, Washington, he met Dorothy Nash, who was serving in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). They married in August 1943 before Bill went off on another combat cruise.

The story Dorothy tells of how they met is just great. Enjoy!
