The dorms are kept extremely clean. Microwave and fridge in each room. TV down in the basement / rec area. Two dorms are fully air conditioned. Taylor, which is a regular dorm, runs around $100-110 a night for 2014. Sorry, I'm not looking up exact numbers. That ballpark, though. There's also the newer dorm, which is closer to $300/night, but it will sleep 4. Semi-private baths in this new dorm. UWO were having problems booking them at this price last year, so they may have reduced the price somewhat. Being new, they're airconditioned. There are a few rooms in the other dorms that must be used by staff or RAs, because there a few with window a/c units; check with the university to check their availability.

There's Blackhawk Commons which is the dining hall. Each meal is an all-you-can-eat deal (unless they've changed it), and the price isn't bad if you're into eating a large quantity. If you just want an egg and toast, it gets expensive. Lots of other food choices available both on and off the field, though. If you're a coffee and bagel guy, there's a small bistro on the ground floor of Gruenhagen that basically has juice, cofee, donuts, bagels, and some cereals all at ala carte prices. I can eat there for $3.50 for breakfast (or less).

This will be my 10th year in the dorms. Not into camping, and the wife likes it that she can get up when SHE wants and still catch the bus to the show when SHE wants to. Would love to camp with my plane, but, hey, at my age I'm just not into camping that much.

Edit for one other thought. The dorms are super clean, but no one goes in your room once they give you the key. No daily linen service, that is. While they supply towels and wash cloths, please bring a larger towel if you're the type to walk down the hallways with a towel wrapped around you. The supplied towels will only embarrass us all. My wife brings her own TP - she hates the 1-micron thick stuff the dorms use. We also bring our own pillows, but that's just us.

As UWO mentioned in their reply to you, the quickest way would be to provide them with a credit card number; regardless of how many days you reserved, you only have to leave a deposit for the first night, $70.

IF you decide to cancel, as long as you tell them by June 15th, you'll get your full refund of $70.

IF you do NOT pay in full BY JUNE 15th, they will cancel your reservation and refund your deposit.

If you do not have a mastercard/visa/American express since you're in Thailand, I would call them and ask how others do it, since many, many, other nations' residents are present for Oshkosh. Perhaps an international wire transfer, but as I said, UWO would be the best source for info on paying your deposit.

Unrelated to the conversation, but we have close Thai friends whose son has the pop band "Nice to Meet You" (or at least, I *think* that's how it's translated).

Oh the joys of showering in a room with a bunch of other men. It would be sort of like being back in basic training at Lackland. You can do most anything for a month, but if I don't have to it is not my thing.

The showers in the dorms are more private and certainly better water flow and temperature than most of the campgrounds. While it is a common bathroom, there are individual shower stalls.

The only real down side of the dorms other than that they are away from the show and at the peak times the buses can have long lines, is that most aren't air conditioned. You may want to consider bringing or purchasing a small fan.

We do not have a payment site online. You can call our office at 920.424.3226 or if you feel comfortable you can send it via email.

If you are just paying the deposit you will need to make the rest of the payment by June 15th. If you want to pay in full now that is fine too.



First of all Thank you so much for clarify me the way to pay,Unfortunately even though I have my own visa card and I preferred to choose the quickest way that you suggested to me ,pretty sure they'll not accept a Visa ,Master,or Amex due to they don't have any online site to charge credit card, I 'll try to contact them by make a phone call or ask them by e-mail or ask any friends on forum board (like you) !!! How about your own way? whenever you stayed there in the past How did you reserve dorms at UWO?

Secondly ,It was really surprised me you have close thai friends there ,Are they interesting in general aviation ? For personally I have no idea about boy band in Thai especially named "Nice to meet you" I think they're very famous in group of teenager 15-21years but their name have a good meaning. ( For me my favourite songs are rock ,hiphop, boy band is not my way )

That's how we all do it - just call them, tell them whether what dorm you want (if they haven't sold-out the air conditioned ones), and they'll take your credit card information. Just because they don't have a website for CC purposes isn't a factor.

Our Thai friends live in Bangkok; the father was a foreign exchange student at my in-laws back in the 1970's; we still keep in touch, and hosted one of his son's for a few months so that he could be immersed in US English.

Thank you for shared me the good experience , I 'll contact them as you suggested to me ( Maybe via phone or email ) ,Yes it is, SOCATA TB-20 It is so amazing how did you know it is quite small picture? Actually I used to be a student of airport management who had learned the most subjects related to airport operations ,I don't have not much the knowledge about general aviation especially aircraft type or model but aircraft fleet in my former university they have all amount of aircraft fleet up to 30 aircrafts such as diamond DA40TDI , cessna 172R, SOCATA TB-20 ,Piper .I think it is easy to memorized for this fleet. What type of your aircraft that you are flying right now? How is your a/c look like?

Exactly carl I'll do it as you advised to me, but right now it is hard time for me due to I need to prepare the documents to be used for applying a tourist visa to entry U.S.A.hopefully everything will be finished before I go there!
It is good story to hear that ,you and their family still keep in touch since 1970's ( I wasn't born yet ,I was born year 1980's ) until now ,It was quite long relationship between 2 family and 2 different countries , Have you ever been to thailand before ?
