    Piper J5 Legroom ?

Anyone know if someone about 6'8" would fit in the front seat of a J5. Got a friend looking into one but unable to actually sit in it at this time.

I have flown a PA-11 which I think is the newer version of a J-5. At 5' 8" I was pretty comfortable but I think that whether someone a foot taller would be comfortable will depend a lot on whether they are longer in the torso vs the legs. I think that it might be tight in the front seat.

    Best of luck,

Way back in the last century, I was asked to "take the J-5" on a storm fly away. The front cockpit was identical to the J-3 that I was training in and it flew the same. I am 6'4".

I have a J5A. I am 5'-10" and I have only a little legroom left up front. If I were any taller I don't know how comfortable I'd be. Good thing about the J5A is, you can fly it from the front or rear. From the rear the seat is wider and there is slightly more legroom.

The J-5 along with the PA-12 are both the incredibly roomy members of the Piper Cub Family. I am 6'2" and it is very comfortable. Your friend may be a little more cramped than I, but there is plenty of room to stretch out.
