    Where to fly in at.

This year it seemed Oshkosh was the best i've ever heard. I really regret not going. I'm going next year for sure and taking my son with me. I am already thinking about flights. I was wondering what is the airport to fly into, commerical of course. This will be the first time back for twenty years.

Appleton is the closest airport, 25 minute drive. Milwaukee is not a bad option, 90 minute straightforward drive. Chicago o' Hare is 3 hours.

Yes, EAA has a shuttle from Appleton right to the convention grounds, seems to go about every hour or so and be reasonably priced. You would not need a car, unless maybe for housing off the grounds. There are a lot of motels in Appleton, don't know if any of them pick up at the airport.

Planning on camping at oshkosh or staying in the dorms at the university. Was planning on coming in on thursday before it actually starts and leaving monday after it's over. Do the shuttles still run on those days?

Green Bay is another option, just under 1 hour from Oshkosh, so it's a good one to try after Appleton and before Milwaukee.

We've flown into Green Bay and Milwaukee. (American doesn't serve Appleton - not that I'm tied to AA, but at DFW, there's just not a heckuva lotta traffic besides AA.) Green Bay can be a pain, since (on AA at least), you still have to go to ORD. I don't think I've ever made an on-time connection from Green Bay thru ORD back to DFW. Even had to spend the night once in LaCrosse (wintertime) when the GRB -> ORD flight was diverted. (side note: While staying in LaCrosse that night, I asked the desk clerk what was Lacrosse's claim to fame. "Well, we have the worlds largest six-pack!")

Madison is another possible site; while I've never been there, it looks to be about the same drive time as MKE. MKE is our airport of choice since it's a non-stop from DFW, and there's enough traffic there that in case of bad WX or other delays you *should* be able to find something out of there.

I typically start looking at flights in the January timeframe. I can usually find an AA flight for ~$200 roundtrip during sale periods.

Wow, $525 is the best i could see at this time. That's from Ontario, Ca to Appleton with two stops and 9 hours later. I remember i paid about that much 20 yrs ago with a last minute booking. What is usually the best time to book?

Looks like that bus schedule only ran from sunday to sunday. I was wanting to come in on Friday before the show starts, stay the entire 9 days and leave on Monday. Does anyone know if they still run those days but maybe a lighter schedule?
