    Some of my AirVenture photos

Here are a few of my favorite captures from AirVenture this year. Any and all comments welcome and appreciated! If you click on the photos, it will take you to a larger version on my Flickr page (there are a few others there as well). Thanks for looking! Already counting down the days until next year!

Thanks, Hal. My name is Ron, though.

I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction as far as how photos are selected for various EAA publications. (i.e. Desktop calendars, magazine covers, etc.) Thanks!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say....the "wall of fire T-6" is a contender.

Good shots, but not too keen on the panoramic format, but that's probably just me. Many hundreds, no make that thousands of photo's taken at Airventure over the years can be seen at airliners.net.

Thanks, Alex. They were not shot as panoramic images, that is just they way that they turned out after I cropped them. I thought it worked well to isolate the aircraft as the main focus of the images. But I do understand where you are coming from. I appreciate the comments!

So sorry about that Ron! You're a WAY better photographer than this Richard guy... Seriously, I don't know where that came from, other than me typing faster than I was thinking.

For our wallpaper/calendar downloads we do each month, those go through me, so you can bet I'll be in touch. As far as other print/digital publications go, I'll spread the word internally, but I'd encourage you to send a note introducing yourself to: editorial@eaa.org.

Excellent bunch of images, Ron. You have a better long lens / panning technique than I do. In your shots, the props are nicely blurred and the aircraft is very sharp. I need to use a fast shutter speed to yield a sharp image of the aircraft but that "freezes" the props. I've uploaded a couple to illustrate. I hope you don't mind. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, George. You have some good shots too. I like the B-17. The prop blur and panning take a lot practice. For every good one that I have, there are probably a hundred bad ones. I find that it helps to practice panning on cars. They are slower and it can help develop your technique.

    Thanks for looking and sharing!
