    Larago LELT-1005-AF Battery Voltage

Picked up a used elt with a dead battery. Can anyone tell me the voltage of the battery on these so I can see if it fires up before spending 60 bucks for a new battery. The unit is a Larago LELT-1005-AF, looks like a Merl 79007 takes the same battery.

Your friendly neighborhood avionics shop would likely be able to tell you and maybe even be willing to test it. 15 minute job and if the shop is slow there might be no charge.

If you want to try testing it yourself, my imperfect memory tries to tell me that there are 6 "D" sized cells in that battery pack. That would suggest that you try 6 volts and then 9 volts. A stack of regular "D" cells taped together and a pair of clip leads would be a reasonable temporary power supply. I would NOT use a battery charger as a temporary power supply.

    Best of luck,
