    Sad annual

Doing an annual on a R172E/T-41B that has been converted with the Avcon conversion. Has a Lyc. O360-A1A. I need new vibration dampners for it. I have searched several lists and cannot find any Lord or Barry numbers. Who ever put them on last, put them on wrong. Now the engine has dropped down, scored the nose bowl and mashed the dampners so bad I cannot see a number on them. Any one got any help for me?

If they used the same part as a 172M they are Cessna part number C299501-0101

Was that with the Avcon conversion? These mounts are so flat we cannot read the Lord numbers on them. None of the STC drawings are with the aircraft paperwork, just the original cover letter.

That is the Cessna part number used with the engine mount for the Lycoming O320 in the 172M - it will convert over to a part number for the Lord replacement part. I'm not sure if that is what Avcon used or not, but it should point you in the right direction, probably at least get you to the right page. All the Lycoming 4 cylinder engine mounts are pretty similar.

does anybody have the drawings for the stc SA777CE to convert the R172E and other 172s and 175s? that would help trmendously. The old mounts have J3049-35 molded in to them.

I removed a set of the old mounts and called Lord. Excellent hep from tech rep who solved the mystery. I still need the drawings though. Well, not me the owner!

Have you tried to contact the STC holder? A quick search at faa.gov yielded:

    Good Luck!

Had a similar problem years ago with a 172 converted by the Avcon conversion and owner no longer had the drawings. In order to re-install the engine he had to buy the AirPlains STC, and we had to conform the airplane to the new STC. Without thie installation drawings, there is no way to confirm how the engine was installed. The paperwork is worth a good percentage of the value of the airplane. DON'T loose your STC paperwork!
