    Methods of Structural Analysis ANC-4

Does anyone know where I can obtain this document? ESSCO doesn't have it on their website. Amazon, Ebay and Google searches have turned up no clues.

I can't find any record of ANC-4 or what it contained.

Have you looked at ANC-18 "Design of Wood Aircraft Structures"? The title of chapter 3 is "Methods of Structural Analysis", Chapter 4 is "Detail Structural Design"

I have a pdf copy, if your email provider allows files that big I can try to send it to you.

Mike, I would be interested in a copy if you don't mind. Wooden aircraft are not my thing at the moment, but I never turn down the chance to learn something that might be useful in the future.

    Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I do have ANC-18. The first paragraph of chapter three makes reference to ANC-4. That's how I learned about it.

I'm interested in learning about all the ANC documents. But I've not found a good source for them or anyone knowledgeable about them.

I forgot to mention in my original post that I also tried the NASA report server. But that also turned up nothing.

It's as if this great resource for a/c design has vanished, or perhaps is vanishing, into history.

I'm still hopeful my post will turn up someone with more informaiton.

    Regards,

Are you referring to the Army Navy civil aircraft bulletin reports? If so, you might try the National Archives, Library of Congress or perhaps the DTIC online library.

If you know anyone that works at a university with access to a research library they might be able to find it (most of them are linked in an online system). I know someone I can ask but she is on sabbatical so it might take a little bit.

My guess would be that ANC-4 was superseded by a later publication.

Edit - I sent an email to someone real good at historical document research, if she can't find it nobody can

So far ANC-4 is proving to be elusive. We did find the following in the bibliography of an AGARD report too big to post here

Figure 2. Army Navy Commerce (ANC) Committee Programs and Publications (Reference 2a)
ANC - 1 (1) SPANWISE AIR LOAD DISTRIBUTION - NAVY
ANC - 1 (2) CHORDWISE AIR LOAD DISTRIBUTION - NAVY
ANC - 1 (3) DETERMINATION OF POINTS OF APPLICATION OF RESULTANT AIR LOADS - NAVY
ANC - 1 (4) RELATION BETWEEN AERODYNAMIC AND INERTIA LOADS - NAVY
ANC - 2 GROUND LOADS -ARMY
ANC - 3 WATER LOADS = NAVY AND BUREAU OF AIR COMMERCE
ANC - 4 METHODS OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS - BUREAU OF AIR COMMERCE
ANC - 5 STRENGTH OF AIRCRAFT ELEMENTS - BUREAU OF AIR COMMERCE
ANC - 6 METHODS OF STRUCTURAL TESTING - ARMY
    ANC - 7 DETAIL DESIGN - ARMY
ANC - 8 PROPELLERS AND ENGINE ACCESSORIES - ARMY
    ANC - 10 PERFORMANCE CALCULATIONS - NAVY
    ANC - 11 PERFORMANCE TESTING - ARMY
ANC - 12 VIBRATION AND FLUTTER PREVENTION HANDBOOK (DECIDED UPON IN 1938 EXECUTIVE MEETING) - CIVIL AERONAUTICS AUTHORITY

    Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion. It appears the national archives has it. I've sent an email inquiring what it takes to get my hands on a copy.

    Patrick,
If you get a copy, might I ask for you to send me one as well?

    Steve
