    Wood and Cloth LSA?

Mr. Sport Pilot here.... looking for wood and Cloth, plans built aircraft. Ideally, 2 place, side by side, but random could work. What options exist? Also, would register as EAB.

First one that comes to mind is a Pietenpol, although that's tandem seating and I'm biased because I'm working on one. The Fisher products, specifically the Dakota Hawk would likely also work. Depends a bit on what kind of performance your mission is intended to be. The research is part of the fun, go look through the plans and materials kits that Aircraft Spruce sells, and the annual guide that Kitplanes puts out and see what tickles you, then get on the forums and see what kind of factory support there is, what kind of builder community there may be, etc.

Two-place, plans-built, wood-and-fabric, side-by-side...hmmm...well, in addition to the Fisher Dakota Hawk, here are a few more.

    • Jodel D.18/D.19 (French design, popular around the world including in UK so English support available, VW engine, hinged canopy, conventional and tricycle gear models)

    • Evans Volksplane VP-2 (the big brother to the classic VP-1, VW engine, relatively simple, taildragger only, second-hand original plans not hard to find)

    • Leger Pataplume II (French design, CAD plans in French but not hard to decipher, VW engine, taildragger only)

    • Nicollier Menestrel II (French design, popular in the UK, VW engine, semi-elliptical wings, a little more work but very pretty)
