    The carb is a 10-2983. I have been told it fits a Lycoming O235, but not sure what models.

    I haven't forgotten you. I'm having trouble with that 'older' 10- number. Even my older MS manuals don't go back far enough to identify your 10-2983. With that in mind and going back to your original question about value I think I'd consider $150 as a core a fair price and go from there. I do believe that this carb could be from an older O 235 but it falls of my charts. I strongly suggest that you check in with the current Marvel Schebler folks and let them tell you what the carb is. At it's current ummmm "vintage " it can typically be used as a core for almost any MA 3 since it will most likely take a complete overhaul to make it serviceable for a certified engine and a better gamble for a homebuilder.
