Cool. Fortunately South Africa has more lenient homebuilt regulations.

It's been done before, at Oshkosh!

Does anyone remember, years ago (maybe late 70s), when Chris Heintz announced his intention to build a Zenith airplane from a kit at Oshkosh? Many volunteers signed up in advance, and my recollection is that they worked 24/7 to complete the airplane. It flew in less than 7 days.

I do not know about Oshkosh, but I know that Zenith built a Zodiac CH601 in 7 days at Sun 'n' Fun in 1993.
