    Ils 36 notam

Does anyone know why the ILS 36 is NOTAM'd out of service this week and next (from July 18-31)? There is nothing in the NOTAM booklet about it being unavailble so I was just curious.

We have been lucky enough in past years to never need it, but yesterday (Thursday afternoon) we had a ceiling at 900' when we arrived...enough for the VOR 36 approach which we used, but a glide slope would have been nice.

With all the uncoordinated ground movements this week, I believe it would be very difficult to insure the ILS safe areas are clear.

Can anyone tell me the CURRENT "Magnetic" heading of runway 36 @ KOSH. ?

Current charts are still displaying it as 359 deg (magnetic), -- and have been for the past 20 years. !

Current charts seem to be based on the old 1975 Mag var of 1 deg East.

From Satellite images, the TRUE Heading of 36 is 0.54 deg

    So back in 1975 True + mag Dev = 0.54 - 1.0 = 359.50 >>> 359 when rounded off.

    CORRECT

    -----------------------------------------

In 2012, the Mag var is about 2.461°W (Note Now WEST)

    So Mag Course of 36 is 0.54 + 2.461 = 3.001 >>>> 3 when rounded off.

So current Charts have an Appr Course for 36 that is 4 degs off.

Flying the ILS 36, one would get the false impression that there is a strong crosswind wind blowing from the EAST, when the winds are actually calm.

So, how far off does a Charts Mag Appr Course have to be , before it is updated on a chart ??

Warbirds are parked in part of the critical zone near the antenna. Last year there was an F-16 (and FJ4) parked nearby part of the week too!

The warbirds block the localizer, there are other things (Fireengines, the FAA moo cows, etc...) blocking the GS.
