    Almost Time

It's almost time to go to Oshkosh. For some guys, they are about at the decision point where they are going to have to put down the pen (keyboard) and take a break from complaining that bottled water costs more than it does at Walmart; and if they are going to EAA, get underway. Or they can stay home and generate some more complaints. I am pretty sure it is going to be hot and dusty this year, but so is most of the U S. with the exception of Walmart, where it is nice and cool inside and the water is cheap and it is boring as heck, if not actually depressing.

I did my flight plan yesterday, about 4 and half hours flying time and planning two stops, personally not having a long range tank.
I drew the course line, decided the 2nd stop is Prarie du Chen, Wisc. as I've never been there and it looks good right on the river. Otherwise might be Decorah, Iowa just north of course.
I have both Wac and sectional charts, current even. I may be old fashioned by not having some super duper all they latest, I'm smarter than you, electro gadget to display the course , but real charts have gotten me there for almost 30 years.
I got the notam in the mail, very handy little booklet.

So now we are just keeping our fingers crossed for decent weather this weekend, and hope it is not too hot for the week there.

Most of all I hope all have a safe flight, or drive for that matter.

Sounds like fun, Bill! I'll be following it as closely as I can from my desk at the office.

    LOL!!

I was dying to get to OSH this year (still am!) but decided that I shouldn't tempt fate and try to fly in with less than 100hrs under my belt. Oh well, there's always next year.....

    Have fun and stay safe!

I'm only about 70 miles from Ripon, won't even have to use my on-board facilities.

OBTW, PDC is a very nice airport. Cabelas is close by if one had more time, though no need for distractions on the way to Airventure.

Weaver , you can certainly fly in , just follow the directions in the notam, and if possible come in the am when it is not so busy. How many flight hours do you think Orville and Wilbur had when they started?
Alternately, fly in to Appleton or Fon du Lac and take a bus right to Oshkosh airport center, cost perhaps $12 or so and goes every hour.
Or maybe ask around and see if anyone in your area is going and has room for one more.

Staying home and looking at Airventure online is about like going to Krispy Kreme and watching someone else eat donuts.

If you can make it from Norway, we all certainly can from a State or 2 away.

Yeah, I've got the NOTAM and have read through it. Doesn't look terrible, but above my skill level right now. I agree with your Krispy Kreme comment though... I was hoping to make it out to see all the Cubs, but nobody in my area is going either. Oh well.

But I don't want to hijack your thread here..... Have fun, stay safe, and let us know how it goes!
