    redo certification inspection

I have converted a KR-2 from taildragger to nosewheel. Is a new airwortheyness inspection required?

That's a major modification. From what I understand (verify for yourself), all you have to do is talk to your FSDO; they will most likely have you re-open the Phase I flight test period for about 5 hours of test flights. Based on their feelings / extent of the mod, they may issue a new set of Phase I limitations with some different / altered words, or they may just tell you to make a log book entry at the start and completion of the new Phase I.

At least, that's what I retained when my DAR explained it 2 wks ago during my AW certification.

Yes, your existing op lims should tell you that you must notify them of such changes. As Carl points out they may want more test time or they may just say, ho hum, yeah sure.
