It's a simple matter of personal privacy as well. If I had prostate cancer (which I don't) I'd rather not say, I'm Joe Blow and I have prostate cancer for the world to know. Simply my preference. Others might have a different preference.

On the AOPA forum you can log on as anonymous and ask "I have prostate cancer, how does that affect my medical certificate?" and get a response from somebody who actually knows. Here you can get a reply from an experienced AME who's around occasionally, but you can't do it anonymously. At least I don't know of a way to do it.
