My mistake! If I remember correctly, there wasn't much wind before it really kicked up from the south. The same wind we were all thanking God for on the ground, controllers and Mooney pilots were cursing! lol

If you think the Mooney pilots were unhappy landing downwind on 36, you should have heard the voices in my head while landing my RV8 on Rwy 9 about the same time.

I've had those voices screaming at me when a friend I was flying with decided to go UNDER a downbursting storm to get to OSH. My voices were screaming almost as loud as I was at my buddy! "DUDE, THAT IS A DOWNBURST! GET US THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!"
I dont want to go flying with your buddy, that is some pretty hairy stuff right there. I bet the pucker factor was pretty high at that moment!!!!
