Happy Tuskegee Airmen & Red Tail

I was pleased to get Col. Charles McGee to sign my copy of his book on the wing of Red Tail!
He even graciously posed with me for a picture!

I love all of it. However, the night airshow is just spectacular to me. The firework display was amazing, better than any other fireworks I have seen in the area on July 4th or any other time for that matter!

I drive in, and I really like when you first arrive, the bright lights at the gate, how friendly and helpfull the staff is, te anticipation, it's great. As far as the flying goes, sitting on the flightline Sunday and Monday, watching all of the arrivals. That's the tops.

We saw Sean later that day. He said that he felt he would be better off in the air where he could still see decent weather than being on the ground during that storm. Hitting a gust while taxiing or landing probably would have been more dangerous than staying in the air with an escape to the south available.

I came to see Dale's E Lazair and to meet up with several other Lazair owners. Considering the current economic climate in the USA the EAA have done well to keep putting on a great event. The night airshow was a lot of fun. Even the John Deere tractor demonstrations pulling giant RVs out of the mud in Camp Scholler were entertaining.

So much happened this year. But the biggest was that I was promoted to a co-chair of the Warbird food shack. We serve the best volunteers at Airventure each year. So next year will be more work but that is fun to me.
