    Sources for pre made vinyl decals

    Hi, all;

    Does anyone have a source for airplane-suitable vinyl decals? I’ve found several companies that have smaller items, but I’m looking for something like a 6’ long swath of 2-3 colors, kinda like a new Cessna design.

    Only company I’ve found was one who made decals for the side of cars, Xtreme Digital Graphix, but they lean more toward hot rod flames etc.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Talk to some local sign companies with your requirements. I was looking for a 2' x 2' vinyl design for the tail of my plane. I called and emailed several local sign places. I got everything from no response or call back (quite common), to quotes for a couple hundred dollars, to the one I ended up going with -- a small local shop who did it for $60. They also do vehicle wraps, and we've had them do some of that too.

    The vehicle wrap places can usually do pretty much anything you want done, including custom printed stuff.

    That’s part of the prob.... I don’t want to design something (again). The first time around I also got quotes from 80 on up for two sides. I want to look at something online and pick it. Most of the online places are one third to one half of the cost of local shops.

    A friend of mine used a decal set from a Motorhome on his 182. He chose a few pieces out of a set.
    It looks pretty good.

    There was a story on a local TV station in Toledo this week about a local company that made images for the field tarp at a baseball field in Chicago.
    Perhaps they can provide what you need.

    I used this company to make the custom vinyl strips for my Highlander. As you can see in the photo it's a very simple design but the company also makes full stripe kits for aircraft that are very intricate. There is not much on the website but the catalog is extensive and available for download in pdf format. I'm pretty sure it's a one man company but I was very happy with the service. I spoke to him on the phone and he was helpful, making suggestions on my project. I bought some placards as well as the stripes, all high quality and fast shipping. I'd do business with him again anytime.

    Thanks for the suggestions; Starlifter, that was the site I referenced in my OP; Tralika, thanks; I'll look into that side.

    All: I spent about an hour yesterday looking at sites. For further reference if anyone cares, I found fullintensitygrafx.com and customvinylgraphics.com that had some designs I could adapt as well; would like something aviation specific, so I'll check the site above.

    I bought some stuff from aerographics.com (well from their booth at Oshkosh) years ago. No problems.
