Oldest homebuilt still owned and flown by the builder

I made the first flight in my modified Flybaby on July 25, 1970 after 2 1/2 years of building and am still actively flying it. I'm just curious how many others "did it right the first time".

Ron Scott is still flying his original design "Ol' Ironsides" which first flew in 1969. A pioneering design, the first homebuilt to use stressed fiberglass skin on the entire airplane.

That 'Ol Ironsides was interesting. I had to go look at the articles. It is always nice to have articles like this in Sport Aviation.

Glad to hear it's still flying. Hope to find some more!

Reported elsewhere in the Mar 08 edition of the EAA e-Hotline is the death of Leonard Eaves of Oklahoma City at age 92(!) in the crash of his one-of-a-kind "Skeeter" homebuilt. As reported, Leonard made Skeeter's first flight in 1966 and flew it from then on until his death.
