Night landing at oshkosh tuesday at 9pm!!!???

On Tuesday, July 25, around 9 pm I saw a plane land on runway 9. I was camping in row 566 by the Hilton, so I had a pretty good view. I saw the plane on downwind, and was wondering what it was doing. It then descended and landed. It exited left (north) and taxied to a hangar on the north side (Weeks Hangar, maybe?). This was my 13th trip to Oshkosh. This is the first time I've ever seen a plane land at night. At first I thought somebody was going to get into some serious trouble (lifetime ban, etc.), then I realized it must be a VIP. This brings up some questions:

    1. Who was it?
    2. Was this operation approved?
    3. Has this happened before?
    4. Were any safety measures in place (i.e. - ground crew, etc.)
    5. I'm running late, can I land at 9pm, just this once?

Turns out it was the jump plane for the skydivers at the twilight filte fest over in ultralights that night. So fully sanctioned and approved.

There was also a Stinson 108 that departed 36 at 5:17 Am on Thursday. There were several large runway sweepers on the runway cleaning up after the night airshow, and a bevy of airport safety vehicles. I heard over one of the truck speakers "Someone check on this guy, does he not understand the field is CLOSED!". Next thing you know two yellow safety trucks are chasing him down the runway yelling "The field is closed, you are breaking the law!". He pulled away from them and took off as they slowed to a stop with their lights flashing. It was like and escape scene form a movie.

You can get your nose fixed to be prettier, tummy tucks and facelifts are readily available, Lasik can restore your sight to 20/20.... but you CAN'T fix stupid. Stupid is forever.

Randy, who was the stupid one(s)? The plane taking off at 5:17 or the trucks chasing him down the runway thinking they could stop him?

I would say the actions of the Stinson pilot fall into the specified category?

Did anyone else see the youngster walk south across runway 27 (might have been Tuesday evening?) while the trucks were doing the FOD check on the runway after closing? That was scary. They let him run back north across the runway and sort of appeared to be escorting him from the truck. Perhaps they got out and escorted him once off the runway on the north side.

Then one of the other nights some moron older man decided he could walk north across runway 27. A couple of campers yelled at him but it didn't seem to bother him. I want to say it was Wednesday during the night airshow, it wasn't quite dark yet and the runway was still active.
