Thanks for the input guys. I ended up notching, laying in another piece of capstrip and scabbing on a piece of plywood on both sides. The ribs are evenly spaced! I'm happy!

Go to any Featherlite dealer. They pump on a chemical, leave it soak for 15 or 20 min and wash it off with a pressure washer. Makes them look like new and doesn't hurt the decals either.
