No chance for Oshkosh this year, I'm way too careful through the test flying. It took about two months on my Glastar to get 40 hours, might take longer in the Glasair.
Now it's really alive! Got my airworthiness today, first flight is imminent. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HhtTQrHjPGg
Congratulations and welcome to the group. Enjoy your new bird and stay safe!
I don't see any danger, it can't be any worse than your saber saw on it. You certainly get a better cut, I would still debur the entire edge just as with any metal edge.
These are very interesting to me. I ran my Glasair III engine for the first time yesterday and today did a linkage adjustment to lower the idle. Before running we pumped fuel through the entire...
Getting close to first engine run and taxi tests. My approach has been to completely finish the project before certain mile stones like engine run. Should be a few weeks away now.
Moot point in my view. In order for the props to create that lift they are providing thrust in order to generate that lift and therefore the plane will be moving forward. Would you want another set...
Update. Final assembly. Should be 4-6 weeks now until first flight. Getting excited for sure.
Wow, those wheels look great Frank.
I'll do it!
This is exactly what I did right away. I asked all of my friends and relatives to write in and why. I provided them with the link to make it easy. Also made a plea on Glasair aircrafts forums as well...
Thank you Jim!
Frank,
is your plane capable of using a Rotec Radial for power? It's a cool little airplane with a VW but a Rotec would put it odd the charts cool. Wind in your face flying, definitely will cause...
You are very generous in your praise Frank. Sure makes a guy feel good about his work. I thank you.
Improved version! All the checkers.mstill a couple of small fixes to go but it's even closer after today. Building airplanes is fun!
Very true Frank! I'm going to have to discipline myself to look out of the plane with all these fancy light up screens. Had a great day yesterday painting. For reasons of masking I'm still missing a...
Just realized, this was started when I got the electric to the panel for the first time. Here is a pic with the panel installation done.
Thank you sir. It does help to hear after all the hours. A labor of love for sure.
Going purely on what I read on another forum, it's already changing for student pilots. My understanding is that there will not be a student certificate, just logbook entries that will serve the...
Update. Been working body and paint since last November. Nearly finished painting, just have a checkerboard panel in the white section on the fuselage to go, then clear. After that, a few odds and...

I have put the Eaa link on every forum I know of and to my non flying friends on facebook. So far, I know I've had about ten people do as I asked and write their representatives in support of the...
Looks great! Easy just like I said, now you are ready to build a composite airplane!
Nice job, I think you will be pleased with the finished product the way you are going.
John,
you have the right idea here. Cutting "splits" into the fabric and then overlapping it is a common way to deal with it in these circumstances. It looks to me like you have approached this in...
