Thanks Sam - much appreciated
Hi Hal- when does the media accreditation open - no sign of it yet on website?
Going back to the original comment regarding the flag men on 09/27 - a lot of them seemed to be CAP cadets who had no idea what type of aircraft they were marshalling and / or where the areas they...
I can understand the need for increased security but the bag checks were very random and easy to bypass so making them pointless.
Waking in via the Lot G gate the bag check was done each time but...
The Friday and Saturdays shows were ok but they only did flyby's in different formations + opposition passes. Also they appeared to vanish for long periods of time and flew over the crowd which...
I go to take pictures and generally the shots on take off are the most dramatic so will try and get to the front and take images sitting down. Aircraft are also closer on take off / landing and do...
Agreed re Danny, the cold war trophies line is just plain wrong and generally laughable. Several other mistakes throughout the show too. Please let us listen to the aircraft not some inane drivel.
...
Much preferred if at least some red trams returned the same way otherwise a long walk back towards Boeing Plaza awaits.
From the UK - I have done it on an organised trip a couple of times but found it much easier to do it myself these days. Last year I flew to Detroit then to Green Bay the weekend before the show,...
Agreed - if you want to see the Blue Angels there are plenty of other shows they will appear at. Sitting close to the taxi way is one of the best things about Oshkosh and allows some great up close...
Hi Eric,
thanks for the reply - The B17 design was colourful and stood out. I have had people ask was it was when using credit cards etc. Unfortunately I doubt that will happen with the new design...
I renewed my EAA membership at Airventure this year and it arrived yesterday. I was very disappointed to note the rather bland design rather than the B17 image that has been on there for a number of...
NAA551WB the same thing happened last year with the DH Mosquito - as a Brit i am used to hearing the sweet sound of a single Merlin in a Spitfire and 4 in the Avro Lancaster but the twin Merlin sound...
MazdaP5 - only stayed for part of the afternoon show today for the reasons mentioned - little point in trying take photos as too many obstructions low level and people standing up.
Wyoranch - agree 100% - I would love to see some of the vintage aircraft / homebuilts do more during the airshow. Every year there is some anniversary of a type so why not give it some show time or...
wyoranch - that 'cold war trophies' is just wrong - the Yaks were available long before the cold war ended and the CJ6 is Chinese not Russian.
Very disappointed to see the burn line moved for the Snowbirds. I would have though that EAA would have learned from the reaction they got with the Thunderbirds a couple of years ago that it would...
Hi,
does anyone know when the media pass applications will be posted? - it is already over a week later than last year.
thanks
Another great Airventure - as a Brit I really enjoyed seeing the Lancaster, Mosquito and psuedo Spitfire fly but the inane commentary just kept coming making recording a video pointless. When a plane...
Byron,
agree with your comments about the Thunderbirds I first saw them many years ago and I do not think the routine has changed at all and left me a little disappointed. If you want an exciting...
Having been to 9 consecutive shows I do find the aerobatic routines a bit of a turn off. Small planes that are distant and with the amount of smoke produced often hideing the aircraft does not make...
Had a pulled pork sandwich on the monday from vintage area - ok but barely warm. Other days tried the subway near RV/Forum which was excellent (once the girls got the UK accent when asking for...
Best bit was the night airshow / fireworks on Wednesday.
Food on offer was fine - ate at the subway in homebuilt area which was fine - girls there were very good.
Worst was the revised crowd...
The sticker idea is wonderful way to remember Paul. Hopefully it would be available to overseas members as well?
