"All costs paid"?
Except for the $60K "Participation" fee as noted above, and then all gas costs, and transportation costs, etc. What's that, another $20-30,000? A little misleading, isn't it?

Is anybody else having trouble downloading the Oshkosh NOTAM from http://www.eaa.org/en/airventure/eaa-fly-in-flying-to-oshkosh/eaa-airventure-oshkosh-notam?
I click on "Download NOTAM" and a new...
Ummm, no, Pioneer Airport is not useable (or safe for WW1 types) during the fly-in, it's reserved for the helicopter rides and kidventure, and the grass "runway" south of 18/36 was allowed for a few...
That was three Fokkers and an SE-5a at Oshkosh in 2010, and how did you determine that they had no problems coming in? In fact the only way the SE-5a was there was that it flew in to Pioneer Airport...
Seems like a good idea at first, but really, EAA, inviting World War 1 airplanes to an airport with no grass runway?

I think Gene was just hamming it up a bit when it started, feigning surprise, that was all-

The premise is interesting, but I think there are quite a few inaccuracies in this post. The Wrights flew in '03, '04, and '05, and there were quite a lot of eyewitnesses to their flying especially...
I e-mailed the manufacturer yesterday, and got this back this morning:
The meter can be activated by any vibration.
If the plane sits outside and the wind is blowing and moving the plane it can...
Does anyone have experience with the vibration activated hour meters, the ones with the 8 year battery?
Specifically the ENM ones, as sold by Aircraft Spruce (and others): ...

The Vintage Aero Flying Museum in Colorado is having their annual fly-in/display on May 18, well worth a visit if you're in the area, about 40 miles NE of Denver, Platte Valley Airport. Web site is...
Oops, should've checked that spelling...!

This summer Frank Pavliga and I are planning to fly his 1925 Waco 9 and 1934 Pietenpol Air Camper to Oshkosh. The Waco is a fresh rebuild, but the Pietenpol is a very well know aircraft, and a long...

Well, you've got a guy who's trying to make a name for himself as a historian (John Brown), and what better way than to start a controversy. And then there's Janes All the World's Aircraft, which...
Look no further than Oshkosh Pioneer Field:

Anybody have a source for Desert Sand camouflage butyrate dope? I called Consolodated (Poly Fiber/Randolph) and they said they could custom mix it if I sent them something to copy, but it seems like...
It isn't bare aluminum, it's a colored process of some kind, and not burnished like that. Will have to try the antique car guys and see if they know.

I'm talking about the Colorado SPAD
2693
And a GO-480 isn't bizzare at all, first of all you won't pull 295 with a fixed pitch wood prop, and also remember that the original SPAD was powered by...
Looking for GO-480 info, who's the knowlegable person out there on these engines? For one thing, the TCDS lists only PS-5 carbs, can you use a regular float carb on one? This would be on an...
Thanks for the info and opinions everybody, lots of food for thought. One thing I am always careful about is good restraint attach points in the aircraft structure, although fortunately I've never...
