Some of the wire braced planes had the wire attached to the center of the wheel hub, through a hollow tube axle I assume? Maybe that's how it's braced?
Unfortunately these are all I have in the way of pictures. I agree about the fuse structure - as I searched more I see the Stits Playboy fuselage was steel tube. I did however, find this gear...
Not quite the same thing, but....I read a story (with accompanying YouTube video) on a car forum about some guys who used four gas powered yard blowers to "supercharge" a little econobox car, and...
Need some help EAA'ers. This project was started years ago by a man no longer with us. A friend of mine is trying to help identify what it is. My first guess was a Stits Playboy, but I'm no...
My son and I were two of those volunteers shooting daily footage. We got a serious appreciation for what it takes Todd and Paul to make it all work. All we did was film what we were seeing as we...
Don't know if you worked on them, or if it's just lighting, but the video quality on the South and Central cams looks much better today. The ground level scan on the South cam is great - will show...
I live in Houston, so my drive is about 1300 miles. :) My son got his Private this year, working on his instrument, so maybe we'll fly in some future year.
You're right - there's not a lot of...
I always take the risk and pre-buy my weekly ticket, and my camping at Scholler. Then we just breeze right through when we arrive. It 's convenient, and buying ahead just makes me feel like now I...
:) :) :)
Official or not, seeing the live feed with tents going up, mowed grounds, people setting things up - gets me so pumped for Oshkosh! Wish I lived closer and could work weekends helping...
fyi - I can't remember the actual discount percentage, but it's significant. Last year we bought a wi-fi back for the GoPro just before leaving for OSH. First day at OSH we visited the GoPro truck,...
Interested in your last statement Paul, about sharing footage. I've asked around and tried for the past couple years to volunteer in a video capacity. I've got a Prosumer level video rig, full HD,...
Thanks for putting these up! Running these is keeping me sane while I wait to leave for OSH on Friday!
Here I am at OSH11 with my backpack. It's a Cinebags CB-25 loaded with one large video camera, 2 small video cameras, a Nikon SLR with 3 lenses, flash, and all the various video and photography...
@s10sakota - great thread! Love this. My son (21 years old now) and I have been attending since '07, but missed SploshKosh (he had a summer session of college classes). Neither of us are pilots,...
@flybuddy - to put it in perspective, I've been way out (as far down as 8th) for a number of years. It's not bad, just a little bit more walking (maybe an additional 10 minutes). Or, you can just...
@dmbleess - actually I didn't see that little "coming soon" note. Thanks.
I know where all the maps are, and what the wifi symbols are. I'm asking John because they are not indicated for 2012.
I thought last year the EAA wifi was significantly improved from previous years, and my ATT and Sprint phones had good service most of the time. I admit I'm a heavy user, was even direct uploading...
Looks and sounds great! I have both streams (tower cam and your video/audio feed) running simultaneously - very consistent, zero buffering!
One (very minor) comment. With last year's stream viewer, I could resize the view window, or keep it full screen on my second monitor (which I did for days on end). With this viewer, it's only one...
Pretty sure it's available on iOS as well - check your app store. Not sure if the iOS update for 2012 is released yet as I don't own any "i" products. :)
My favorite line in the announcement, "scheduled arrival of Wednesday, July 25 ". Notice that no time is mentioned, as it will take most of the day to make the low pass down the flight line. Just...
Just got the updated 2012 AirVenture app on my Android phone - it's great! All the schedules, maps, etc are so helpful walking around the grounds all day. I really like the daily highlights...
So with work up to Thursday before, and a 20 hour drive from Houston, I can't get there until Saturday. Is it "fair" to get someone else who arrives earlier to stake out and save us a space? Or is...
