Ron, I was working for a JPL contractor (Bendix Field Engineering) at the Goldstone DSIF Echo Station in the MDE (Mission Dependent Equipment) areas for both Lunar Orbiter (Boeing) and Surveyor (Hughes Aircraft) at the time. We were 'over the moon' after that "Earthrise" image was processed.
Attached is a graphic showing the geometric perspective of Lunar Orbiter 1, Earth and the moon when that photo was taken.
