Now that really is cool.
Amazing craftsmanship. And it turns what would otherwise be landfill trash into full-size aviation art. Pretty neat that he starts with a plastic model and scales up the dimensions. Not unlike a certain Mr. Bally with B-17 model plans.
THAT, is NEAT! Thanks for sharing that link.
Wow oh wow!!! the guy is amazing... I wish he were my neighbor...
Historically speaking Claude Dornier's brilliant center line thrust not only
produced the war's fastest piston power propeller fighter but also
the fastest twin engine aircraft of the war out pacing Lockheed's
P38 and DeHavilland's Mosquito 415 mph at 28,000 ft
Dornier Do.335-B4 380mph at Sea Level and 478mph at 36,000
Attachment 8400
That guy lives just over an hour from me. Bowmanville is on the east side of Toronto. What a collection!
How did that plane rotate for takeoff without its tail hitting the ground?
It was a big airplane with a very tall gear. One could easily walk under the wing with a couple feet to spare. The bottom of the ventral fin was still several feet about the ground. I’m sure someone could abuse the takeoff or landing and get a tail strike. Operational that was probably the least of their problems.
A tail strike would protect the aft prop.
