anyone have any data on this mission ?

5 gallon fuel ,, examination of likely power plants reveals possible burn of 1.5 g / hr .. fuel
catch some lift enroute or a low level jet is what i told the guys in my eaa chapter..
is the only way ..
i am up for either option ..
only reason i am now remarking is the current frontal passage .
low level jet steam present , how low , with a oxy bttle i can go to 18 K
thinking about launching my open UL B-10 ahead of the front with the lowlevel jet or after ?

climb to 'altitude " in a 254 lb airframe ...
and fly like a butterfly in the wind
now i just need to build test and execute
here is mr jacobs wing..documented 300 mile flight , is this the departure or arrival pic idk

by what margin does the current record have to be exceeded?

A new record must exceed the previous record by 1% for distance

i sure would like to get my B-10 built , there are lots better wings , however , no plans and complex build , b-10 is everymans wing .. simple easy build

i wish i was at 17K msl riding the wave east..
a u-2 Mitchell wing flew to 25 k , it is said the u-2 wing is less better than than the original B-10 . re: lift .

i bet if i had the wing , and it could , i would bust 18K and laugh laugh .
all aside i need to build and test ..
just to get built and launch around the pattern at Paris would be ,, very good ..

I think the record could be easily broken without going into the flight levels. Where I live, winds below 5000' occasionally reach 50 kts. 300 miles describes the average width of many midwestern states.

Takeoff, find a good tailwind, hoist a spinnaker and pull the power back and you'd be on your way! ;)

Great webinar on this subject. I would email this lovely lady and ask her some of these questions. Seeing how she has flown 2500 miles at a time in an ultralight style airplane she should have a wealth of information to share.

5 gallon tank , fuel burn 1.5 gph very optimistically , air speed ? 50 mph ? when i wrote above i found 40 knots at 9K , i think i am wanting oxy at 9k for 3 hours .
this thing is rated to 12 K , however , i think tests might reveal a higher true ceiling. i kinda like that ducted fan , no open meat chopper to worry about , however sure does look like a long Take Off run, low thrust compared to an open prop i suspect , or maybe not. any ducted fan gurus ?

on that day wind at surface was ,calm, 5 % cover CAVU .40 knots NNE @ 9K . too true super cells with tornadoes were rolling north ahead of the front . but they were south of launch position . .
one would want to insure landing at a field who could hanger the little flyer since when the front caught up winds were 50-70 mph at surface [and the odd tornado ]

her skill was flight planning , with an N number not limited to 5 Gallon fuel. i doubt that cautious lady would be found at 10 K MSL a coupe hours ahead of a major frontal passage . the front moving fast. propelled by a low level jet .air temp at altitude is very brisk, be sure and have no exposed skin and you r electric longjohns on
