Building a P-51 Replica
Hello,
This my first post in this forum.
I've bought a P-51D replica projet, scale 3/4, designed by Marcel JURCA.
This project has been created to fly with a Potez 4D, 260 hp. In my opinion this is an unless powerful engine.
This engine gives an non good looking nose...

So, I'm interested in V8 engine conversion, about 350 hp. The engine is easy to find, but it seems to not be the same about the PSRU.
Can you give my information and you opinion about this project?

A quick Google search produced the two links below. I don't know anything about either of them.

Trace Engines builds the certified 600 HP V-8 engine.

It is the reborn Orenda V-8. Ought to be more than enough for your Mustang.

Titan Aircraft also manufactures a 3/4 scale P-51 kit that looks absolutely fantastic, as well as an engine kit to power it. They power it with a converted Suzuki V-6 engine that they claim manages 200 knots at 185 bhp. This is quite substantial for most practical uses and does very well in aerobatic flight as well. It sounds like you have a substantially more powerful model, so I guess there are a number of reasons this might not work for you, not least of which it has to come from the western US to get to your project in France, but I hope it helps in some way none-the-less.
Their information is here:

If your power requirement is for 300 or less, the Mazda 20B 3 rotor engine might be a good choice. I've been flying one for about a year now on an RV-8 and very pleased with the results. It weighs a lot less than the V8 Chevy, about 405 lbs FWF with all systems installed.
