Just out of curiosity, I would like to know which of these aircraft do you think you would want to fly the most. I realize that this isn't a great list, so if you don't see one you would really like to fly, just leave a comment and tell me what you would classify as your Fly-Before-I-Die aircraft. The purpose of this poll is just to see how many pilots like certain kinds of aircraft more than others. I have experimental, airliner, warbirds, normal, helicopters, and aerobatic aircraft here. So just please give me some feedback.

It was a tossup between the X2 and blimp.

BTW, rotorcraft and lighter than air are not planes ;)

I voted for the Decathlon, since I have about 4 hours in a 7EC which was a lot of fun! I'd like to fly in any RV model especially like the -8's and 9's. WTTN 16, I haven't flown into RYV in years always liked the cookies and all the great aircraft based there. I was a member of the Fox River Flyers outa Waukesha (UES) back in the 90's, we did our C-150 annual at Watertown back then.

Best to All at RYV!

I've always thought it would be awesome to fly a P-51, but a Corsair would certainly fill the bill too! I love the old WWII piston planes.

The Christen Eagle my dad and I built back in the '80's. We sold it after he lost his medical, I was too young to fly it so I never flew it. I tracked it down and plan on buying it back one day Spent the last few months building tailwheel time! Can't wait

So many dreams, so little time: Sikorsky S-38 or S-39, Jenny, Travel Air 6000 on floats, Beech Staggerwing, P-40 Warhawk. Gotta go buy a lottery ticket!

Can anything compare to the sound of a Jug or Corsair at full rpm on takeoff. The Mustang is a great plane but a big radial is something to be experienced.:D

I can't vote... There isn't an F-86 Sabre option. Or a Corsair, which would be #2.

The Nieuport 11 scaled representational project still being built in the backyard!

;)

I'd love to fly a Yak-1 or a P-39, though.

All of them!!! But if truly given the choice I would probably give my chance to fly anything to my son, whose favorite plane is the P-38. I know I will never have the chance and the chances will get even less for our children. I think seeing my sons dream being fulfilled would be the most rewarding thing I could ever get in life.

My "Top 2" didn't make the list-

F-15 with a max performance takeoff-

Anywhere in a SR-71.....

For me it would be a Corsair, although I would also cherish some time in a TBM Avenger as I have a good friend who flew them in WWII.

I forgot about the SR-71, and of course some of the really early stuff from the twentys and thirties... So many planes and so little time:(.

My father was a Navy pilot through the 50's and into the 60's, so I would most like a chance to fly what he flew most... the P2V Neptune. otherwise, I would love to fly a Tigercat, or the P-63 KingCobra.

How ironic that the only one to get this right (:D) was 'mustangbuilder'. Why of course...it's the Corsair!!!

Interesting note: Vought actually built a single, two seat, dual control, trainer version of the F4U. It had a canopy very similar to the North American At-6. (Tony Pileggi has a picture of it at his Corsair82 web site; http://www.corsair82.com/corsair/seats/seats.html)

They offered in response to all the transition crashes that were taking place at the time. However the Navy showned no interest in it and it was destroyed.

F-20 Tigershark (have time in an "under-powered" T-38) and an A-10. It's all about what we grew up with ;ob.....

For me, to fly absolutely anything, it has got to be of the WW2 era, one of the following: Spitfire, P-38, Fw190 'Dora', Ju88 or the Do 335. Have always found the German stuff intriguing. See photo below of the 335, the fastest piston engine aircraft ever built.1231

Stagger beech, Globe Swift. Of warbirds in order, Spitfire, FW190, F4U corsair, P-51, JU-87. Jets, Sabre Jet, Phantom and those pretty things Red Arrows used to fly, Northrops?.
Too hard to pick a homebuilt but a BD5 jet might be fun.

Early era. Spad 13, Sopwith Camel, Albatross, Curtis Jenny.

Modern stuff. Turbine Pilatis maybe or a Maule.

Big Stuff. Lockheed Super Constellation, Pacific flying Boat, Lancaster Bomber, The Spruce Goose.

I thank you EAA for letting me fly the EAA Spirit of St. Louis in 2003.

And now in 2012, I get to fly a J-3 Cub with many other Cubs to AirVenture for the 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub. What more could I ask for?

Hi Rick,

What an experience that must have been, thanks for posting the pics.
I completely agree. Thoroughly looking forward to the 75th of the Cub. Coming over all the way from New Zealand for Oshkosh (my first US visit). Can't wait.

cheers,

Andy
