I bet Aircorps Aviation gives access to the plans for a monthly cheap fee...

They have P-51 and other WWII aircraft original drawings all on digital format.

They could also help fabricate parts you might need to copy.

They are in Bemidji , MN

I have stood next to Deford's airplane and it really does a good job of replicating a Spitfire, If and that is a big IF you don't consider the engine, which is an Allison and not a Rolls Royce. Just in the photo the wing looks slightly thicker at the wing root than the genuine one. The authentic wing is a marvel of aerodynamic design, great at low speed stall down around 62knots and great at high speed up above .85 Mach, and does this without gimmicks like stall strips or upturned wing tips or slots. but the taper in the wing is not easy to build.
The title of this topic should say "full size homebuilt replica plans for sale" as this is not an actual Spitfire, of course as designed and built by Supermarine.
It kind of reminds me of the new high end avionics line which is titled Aspen Avionics, since I guess Albuquerque Avionics doesn't have the same ring to it.

Hi Bill,
Have you any idea how I can contact Bob deFord? An email address, phone number or address? I need to ask him some questions about using his plans for the Mk IX Spitfire.
Pete

Pete, I don't know Bob Deford, I think he is from Prescot, Az. ? He brought the plane to Osh last year, so the Warbirds div of EAA may have a phone for him. Or try the FBO at Prescot.
