Request for Event Calendar

When entering the Description for the event, I usually paste information since I submit it to several aviation event calendar web sites.
If the text I'm putting in is long, I get the error "Please limit to 500 characters or less."
The problem is that it doesn't say how much I need to take out, so it takes quite a while to edit, see if that's enough, repeat..., repeat...repeat...

If the script on the page knows I am over 500 characters, it must know how many characters I have put in so I can know how much I need to take out.
Please have the error message show the number of characters I've entered, along with the limit.

Or.... remove that limitation altogether in the description input area.

That would be nice, but then they would have to also change the database structure and the display pages. Although it's not like we're dealing with aviation weather that still relies on text formats developed when teletypes were in use.
I just went for the easiest fix.
