The formation landings in particular (the diamond at 1:10 and the 6-ship delta at 13:18) are incredible.

It's also great to see some color footage of their Connie, although there's not nearly enough. And the hair at 2:57 or so just defies description, but that's neither here nor there:

Hi Hal, thanks for the video. It reminded me of a Blue Angel practice session where I flew a journalist in an F-4J chase plane that we used for static display for him to get pictures but he spent most of the time using the barf bag. He recovered and was able to take some pictures the next day.

Lots of memories here. Bill Wheat's team came just before Harley Hall took over the Boss' job in 70. I can still remember trying to follow Johnny Allen to the hotel where all of us were staying at the Reading show with several of us in a rented sedan trying to keep up with John in his Corvette. Never did catch him! We got lost and took a ribbing when we finally got there. :-)
The guys loved the F4. It was probably the best all around display platform ever flown by the teams. It was fast, absolutely great in the vertical plane, had a decent roll rate, was stable especially for the slot, and you could see the bruiser coming for miles with the smoke from those twin 79's.
Those were wonderful times and great people. Harley was sadly lost in VN and of course Skip Umstead and Mike Murphy at Lakehurst. The F4 teams were great teams, both the Blues and the Thunderbirds.
Bless um' all!
