Hello all. I used to have an E6-B years ago but it broke and had to pitch it. Doing a search online, I see they have paper ones. That begs the question: Can these be printed out? My wife is a big crafter and has cardstock and lamination abilities to make one very easy, and we have a printer that will do both sides of the wind scale. Is there a source I can print this out from? Thanks for you help.

Skip it and download an app for your iOS device. Easier and more accurate.

I concur with iflyprops. If you have a smart phone, the electronic E6B is fantastic. It's not a wizz-wheel, so it takes a moment to get used to the task flow to perform your conversions. But once you get the flow down, it's really quite nice.

You dern kids with your fancy hardware. Back when I took the written the first time*, I didn't have a calculator, or even an E6B. I did all the calculations by hand, and brought in a ruler and a protractor and drew the wind triangles to solve for wind correction angle and groundspeed.

And get off my lawn!

*Passed it, too. But was only two days past my 15th birthday when I took it, and two years later had only 10 days to fit in the flight test before the written expired. So I had to take it again. This time I had a mechanical E6B. I scored much higher. :-)

Sporty's sells a paper ( ASA composite) E6-B for only $12.95, and if I needed one that is what I'd buy, or find the same thing in a local flight supply shop if you have one.
However, it is in the spirit of the old EAA to make something at home rather than buy it, even if it might not be as good and takes more time than it is worth.

Sporty's also has color aluminum ones for $35 and the mini one at $28.
Their phone # is 1-800-776-7897.

If you have some older pilots who mostly fly jets now, they might have an E-6B home they don't use anymore.

Who uses these old things? Well, I do for one. I have flown all over the U S, as well as some in Canada and the Bahamas and I use mine. It still works as well as it ever did and D=RxT or T=D/R is as true as it was 34 years ago when I learned.

Somewhere, in my box of other neat but useless junk I have a fancy electronic E-6B, I think made by Sport's that I got as part of a refresher course. I have no idea how to use it and I am sure the batteries are long since dead.

Ask around at your local airport, some pilot may have one he'll give you, since most of us use a iPad these days. Although they don't allow iPads to be used during the written test, an E6B was provided to me at testing center. My preferred is the APR Industries Plastic E6-B8D http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/aprplotters2m.php Allows computation of WCA without having to make a dot. It's bright, durable, and fun to use.
