Does anyone have a recommendation on how I can download a video from the Hints for Homebuilders website page and play it at a chapter meeting. Cell phone data is not a preferred solution as the video file is quite large.

Hi Marty -

There are plenty of tools out there that will let you capture Brightcove (our video platform) videos and save them for later playback, but, as they and/or certain aspects of their use, are technically illegal, I can't point you to them. Nor should anyone else post any links here publicly, outside of a private message.

That being said, we do have 2 DVDs available so far with about 2 hours of Hints videos each, if that's of interest to you:

Sheet Metal:

Building Techniques:

Or, for both:

Thanks!! May I make a suggestion. The EAA should really try to support the chapters here that do not have WiFi at their meeting location. PLEASE bring this issue to one of your staff meetings with the legal folks and figure out a way to except chapters from using the material in this manner! The use of the video hints in this manner should NOT be technically illegal!

We're looking at that regularly - it's a large part of why we made the DVDs available.

As for the legality, I think you missed my point: the tools I was referring to can be used theoretically to capture any video stream from multiple sources on the web. It has nothing to do with us directly, per se, it's the fact that downloading video from any source, say, YouTube for example, without the copyright owner's permission can be against the law. That's why I'm not directly pointing you to the tools.

Clearly, I shouldn't have mentioned them at all.
