I came across this great article about WWII bomber jacket art via a friend and thought some of you might enjoy it:

For those who haven't been to the EAA AirVenture Museum this year, we have a pretty nifty WWII nose art display called, "Plane and Fancy: Aviation Art in WWII" on exhibit in our Hansen Gallery and Gorman Gallery. Since we really don't have an online gallery for the exhibit, I'll share some photos of it here:

The cowling is from General Bill Kepner's P-47D "Kokomo" and is on loan from the Grissom Air Museum in Peru, Indiana, which is just up the road from Kokomo, Indiana where Kepner was from. It's a rare piece of authentic WWII nose art. The biggest display (that I am aware of) of authentic WWII nose art is at the Commemorative Air Force's CAF Airpower Museum in Midland, Texas. It's a fantastic exhibit and I highly recommend it.

On that note, do any of you have a painted aviation jacket, WWII or other era? Share it here!
