Last night at our EAA Chapter 1246 Meeting we had Warbird Night. We interviewed Lt Colonel William Perry, who flew a P51, escorting the bombers over Germany. He also served in Korea and Vietnam, flying twin engine transports. We heard things about the P-51 that we've never heard before.

Our other speaker was Alex Mena, whose father served aboard a B-24 Liberator named the "The Irishman's Shanty" and, along with 9 other men, completed 30 missions over Germany. Alex is a film producer, who is attempting to interview as many WWII service men as he can that flew on the bombing missions in Europe.

Alex is in the process of putting together a film documentary entitled:
"CREW 713" - the men who flew "The Irishman's Shanty" 30 missions. 10 men. 1 crew. The story of an American B-24 Liberator bomber crew.

He plans to travel with his film crew in a few days to San Diego to interview Airmen of the 492nd at their reunion. Currently they a little short of their goal in obtaining the financial backing for the trip. If you would like to help these guys out, please consider helping them out by going to:

Here is the CREW 713 website:

Alex doesn't know that I'm posting this. This is my chance to help him out for what he is attempting to do.

Thank you.
