Warbirds Over Whiteside

I just got off the phone with one of the organizers of a relatively new warbird event called "Warbirds Over Whiteside" held at Whiteside Co. Airport in Rock Falls, Illinois the weekend prior to AirVenture. While the point of the discussion was about a potential Timeless Voices interview, I did learn about this neat event and thought I would share it here. The core group behind the event are the same volunteers that played host to the 75th Anniversary Reunion of DC-3/C-47s in 2010. This year they will be hosting a number of warbirds that will be heading up to Oshkosh for AirVenture, including a B-25, some P-51s, a Corsair, and numerous others. For a small fee folks can come out and access the ramp and get up close to the planes. Warbird owners receive fuel, food, and hotel discounts for stopping in. If you live in the Rock Falls area, or are driving or flying up for AirVenture, I encourage you to stop by Rock Falls and check out "Warbirds Over Whiteside." It sounds like a fun time!
