Alright, I think the Young Eagles program is great. I first flew in a program like that before YE was official.

EAA raised a SERIOUS BOATLOAD of money, $2.2M this year, for the program. But, what does that much money buy?

Having spent a bunch flying YE kids, I'm curious how they could spend that much sending us thank-you letters.

Everything is disclosed in the annual report. Check it out if you haven't read it before. There's a lot more to it than sending thank you letters...

Does anyone have a link to the annual report? :)

There's always a link to it at the bottom of the EAA homepage, but here it is...

Well, the YE program isn't even listed (other than the rah rah description of it) and doesn't show up on the balance sheet.
But I suspect the 2.2 includes the credit back to the chapter for the academy stuff which is a good chunk. I bet another big chunk is the insurance rider that the EAA takes out to jack the pilot's up to a million smooth.
I did get a nice polo shirt and a letter thanking me for not killing any young eagles a few years back.
