EAA Chairman Tom Poberezny abruptly retired from the organization on Tuesday in a small event that wasn’t widely announced.

EDIT...Sorry- I found the EAA e-mail later, so probably everyone on this forum knows this.

Hal- feel free to delete.

Would somebody care to explain just what the heck is going on? I know that Rod Hightower has been president and CEO for the past year and Tom Poberezney remained chairman of Airventure. But in Airventure Today they ran a big article about Tom in his "new" role as Airventure Chairman and then the very next day he announced his retirement. What is going on? I'd like to hear the official EAA version and then have someone else tell me what really happened. Let's hear it.

I believe he will be holding the position of Chairman Emeritus upon his retirement.

I though he announced way back he planned to retire. Guess the time was right. Certainly didn't find it a surprise when the blurp was released.
